The after-effects of overeating during the holidays, shorter days, cooler weather, and busier schedules can make taking care of ourselves more difficult than usual. If you feel ready to show your body some love, here are five ways you can get started today.
Prioritize activity – Working out helps you sleep better, keeps your body healthier by burning fat, and increases endorphins that make you feel happier. Stay active by starting your day with light stretching or a brisk walk. After attending a spin class or playing tennis with a friend, your body will thank you.
Skincare – Your body must be cared for inside and out. Lower temperatures can cause dry skin and irritation. Protect your body by investing in a skincare regimen that’s easily followed. Use a face wash, moisturizer, soap or body wash, and all-over lotion that keep your skin from looking and feeling dry.
Cut out the junk food – Give your body a lengthy break from unhealthy eating by cutting back on the junk. Ditch the chips, candy, sugary snacks, and soda. Drink a lot of water to help your body flush out the bad things it’s been storing.
Vitamins – Talk to your doctor and make sure you are getting your fill of essential vitamins. Feeling sluggish can be a result of a vitamin deficiency. Your doctor may recommend a daily multivitamin, liquid supplements or changes in your diet. Put your doctor’s recommendations in motion so that you can feel your body operating more efficiently.
Rest – Adults need 7-9 hours of sleep nightly to begin each new day at the top of their game. Prioritizing sleep allows your body time to regenerate cells, repair achy muscles, and rest your busy brain. Relax and give your body exactly what it needs to catch more Z’s.
