It’s easy to explain away why you don’t make positive changes in your life. Change can be intimidating, especially when you are comfortable as you are. Don’t let comfort keep you from tackling big dreams and going after your goals. Use these tips to kick your habit of excuse-making.
The excuse: I’m too old/young to do that.
The truth is, you are never too young or too old to begin a new adventure. Simply decide that now is the right time, and take back the power from this common excuse. By stepping out of your comfort zone, you just might meet people from all generations whom you wouldn’t have met if you had allowed this excuse to limit you.
The excuse: I don’t have enough time.
If you don’t make time, you won’t have time. We all have the same 24 hours in each day. From painters to writers, and doctors to teachers: what matters is how you schedule your day and prioritize your to-do list. If your goal is to advance your photography skills but you don’t make time for a class, then you are choosing to give up on your goal. Arrange your plans to make things happen. You will feel so much stronger for having ditched this old excuse.
The excuse: I don’t have the money.
Many of our dreams can be pricey. If you want to take an Alaskan cruise, remodel your bath or purchase a new car, you most likely will need to save for it. These goals may seem lofty when you look at your bank account and bills, but they aren’t impossible. Open a savings account and set a date to have your financial goal met. In order to stay motivated, research travel packages for your cruise, visit a home improvement store for design ideas, or test-drive the car you want. Your plan can be a fun and intentional journey that makes achieving the goal even more rewarding.
